This is Linux's per-user inotify quota, not a JavaScript heap or disk-space error. Check the current limits, then raise them persistently: cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches
cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances
printf '%s\n' \
'fs.inotify.max_user_watches=524288' \
'fs.inotify.max_user_instances=1024' |
sudo tee /etc/sysctl.d/99-nextjs-inotify.conf
sudo sysctl --systemRestart the dev server afterward. If the limit is reached again, check for duplicate IDE/dev-server processes before increasing it further; the quota is shared by every process owned by that user. The kernel interfaces and their exact meanings are documented in |
